The new Swift from Maruti.

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005

Maruti Suzuki has launched a new model called Swift.
It has this retro looks and is catching on like anything.
new swift by Maruti
With so many cars being launched recently, I did not give it much attention when I read about it in the newspapers first. But when i saw it on the road..it is a real head turner … by Indian Standards atleast…. going by the overdose of ugly cars that we have.

Time Lost, Wealth Gained

The Delhi Metro construction near my home and office has been a major cause of Traffic Jams for more than an year now. The construction was supposed to be done in such a manner that be minimum inconvenience, though the actual situation was far from it.
On the other hand, the price of our house has almost doubled in the last few months. The Real Estate experts and the newspapers attribute the rise to the Delhi Metro. An article in The Hindustan Times said that this is not the peak, the prices will firm up further, until the Metro station goes operational.

You bet I am now willing to accept the traffic jams, the return has been more than good :-)

Local Content on New Delhi

Wednesday, June 8th, 2005

There is so little local content on the internet for a city like New Delhi.
And whatever little there is seems to be very timed [most of it is not relevant any more]. I am a member of many networking centric email groups about Delhi, but very little exchange of value seems to be taking place there.

There seems to be so less of theme or interest based interaction amongst us Delhiites. Could it be because we do not have enough hobbies or enough time to devote to those hobbies. Sometimes i wonder if that is true for all developing nations.
Dunno.

Google Launches Sitemaps beta

Google’s Sitemap beta.
It is something similar to the ping service provided by most of the blogging softwares.

So if you have a site make sure to add a sitemap to help google crawl all the pages. You can use Sitemap Generator to create a sitemap and submit to google. Read more about it at the sitemap faq.

This particular line from the faq caught my attention:

We don’t guarantee that we’ll crawl or index all of your URLs. However, we use the data in your Sitemap to learn about your site’s structure, which will allow us to improve our crawler schedule and do a better job crawling your site in the future. In most cases, webmasters will benefit from Sitemap submission, and in no case will you be penalized for it.
